Elizabeth City State University Aviation Facility

Lindsey Architecture is currently working with Elizabeth City State University and Elizabeth City Regional Airport on a new flight training facility. The state-of-the-art facility includes a 3,000SF education building nestled between two 9,600SF hangars designed to inspire the next generation of pilots. The design team worked with both ECSU and the Elizabeth City Regional Airport Board to create a comprehensive program for both the hangars and the education building that meets both their current and anticipated future needs. The education building has many functions, including an area for a flight simulator, cafeteria, study areas, administration offices, briefing cubicles, and a classroom designed to foster collaboration between the students and instructors, and to create an imaginative learning environment.
